Here up for your consideration is very top end carnelian intricate intaglio of a Roman or Greek soldier that the rough was mined from Ratnapura in the Sabaragamuwa Province of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). ((Carnelian is the bright orange to a reddish orange material from the Chalcedony Species (a micro-crystalline quartz), which is usually heat treated to produce color, and occasionally dyed to produce color. You can also place carnelian under sunlight to deepen the red color. Carnelian is usually used in antique jewelry, and highly prized as cameos or intaglios as this beauty is.)) This carnelian intaglio is not colored enhanced (dyed or heated), as this is its natural color! This would make an excellent gift to that someone special, or an addition to a collection.
