The purpose of this workshop is to teach participants a wholistic technique of massage which is unique to Focus Bodywork. It is designed to be a first step to a series of weekend workshops. The intention is to teach healing massage to beginners, as a profession or to practise on their family, and also to offer professionals who already do a form of bodywork a different perspective. The course will include approximately 18 hours of instruction divided into theory and hands-on practical sessions. It will be an intense study of: the body/mind connection; how and where we store blocked energy throughout the body; how to locate these blocks and move them out using practical techniques with energy work; and how intuition plays a major role as a bodyworker. The purpose of massage or bodywork is to rejuvenate and relax the body, which affects all aspects of ourselves, not only the physical.
A certificate will be presented at the end of the course and signed after a practicum of 25 massages have been performed. There are no prerequisites, however any kind of personal growth work will be an asset.
SHARON STRANG has been teaching massage for about 24 years. She has also been trained in Healing Touch, and has completed The Instructor Diploma Program through Vancouver Community College. The past 9 years, she has instructed in Continuing Education at Okanagan College; she previously owned and operated The Wellness Spa in Kelowna, B.C. for over 13 years. Her intuitive nurturing touch has supported many people and has grown into a thriving business. Her desire to support others has now led her to teach what she has learned.
