This phenomenal material was mined on the Kola Peninsula in Northwest Russia within the tundra surrounding the Khibiny Mountains. This is by far the best fire return in a Titanite (Sphene) that you can get from a natural gem, as this gem has fire greater than a diamond. Titanite (sphene) is strongly pleochroic (displaying three or more different colors as the stone is orientated) and has high birefraction (seen as doubling of the back facets) and a adamantine luster. Titanite is also called the Christmas stone because of the intense red, orange, green to yellowish green flash that comes from within the gem.))
