This is a safe-haven, get-away-from-it-all retreat at the Friendly Hall Estate in the secluded St. Lucy's parish in northern Barbados... where you can look out at night at the dreamy Southern sky, and enjoy the incredibly lush, healing Caribbean air.
Kids are welcome. Primary renter (person responsible for signing lease agreement) must be at least 21 years of age.
For stays shorter or longer than one week (7 days), rental rate will be pro-rated according to number of days.

The Mill House, built in the1790’s, is a charming private residence with the ambience of a French country house. It is located on the secluded Friendly Hall sugar plantation in St. Lucy, the least developed parish in Barbados. The open floor plan is inviting, with thick coral and limestone walls, high ceilings, and patios surrounded by open fields with views of the sea. The original Mill Tower – a national historic landmark - remains on the property and is surrounded by palm trees, spider lilies, and brilliantly colored frangipani and bouganvillea.
The residence is just 1/4 mile from the sea. The tranquil West Coast beaches are marked with blue-and-white access signs and parking is free. Do you love surfing and snorkeling? Just walk 1/4 mile along the shore to Maycock’s Bay… an excellent beach. Mullins Beach, one of the finest on Barbados, is a 10-minute drive. And in nearby Speightstown, off the beach at Cobbler’s Cove, you can swim with the endangered leatherback and green turtles – an enchanting experience.
Speightstown, the capital of St. Lucy’s Parish, is a market town dating from the 18th century. About a 10-minute drive from the Mill House, the town offers a well-stocked supermarket, open-air markets with local produce, banks with ATM machines, restaurants, nightlife and more. Fisherman sell their fresh catch most afternoons in a small fishing community called "Six Mens," located along the coastal road from the Mill House to Speightstown.
Holetown, about 10 minutes south of Speightstown, boasts gourmet food and wine shops, boutique shopping and an abundance of restaurants. Golf, tennis, boat rentals, water sports and more are available up and down the west coast, commonly referred to as the ‘Platinum Coast.’
AMENITIES:
Three (3) bedrooms, two (2) baths, a modern kitchen, gracious living and dining rooms, each with an outer courtyard, complete the layout of this unique, fully furnished 1,750 sq. ft. Caribbean retreat on nearly an acre of property!
Also includes radio/CD player and free local phone service.
SERVICES:
House-cleaning service is provided once during the rental week; additional cleaning service, babysitting, and meal preparation can also be arranged on request. Wayne Skeete, a longtime friend of the Mill House, oversees the property and manages the grounds. He is an excellent troubleshooter and is tremendously helpful with regard to all things Bajan. For your convenience rental cars can be arranged through Wayne. Upon arrival in Bridetown, Wayne can meet you at the airport and transport you to the Mill House. | |
