 | We will be retiring soon and need to downsize some of our treasures. We have loved these tables for many years, but they will not fit in our "fishin' cabin," as my husband calls our retirement house. I bought these tables from a Belgium antique house and had them shipped here to Colorado. The carving is all hand done in an elaborate Baroque or Rococo style. The set might have originated in Italy.
The dining table is 47 1/2" wide and 30 3/4" tall. The coffee table is 50" long, 27" wide, and 21" high. Both pieces have custom cut protective glass on the top. Both have marquetry, or inlaid wood designs, on the top. It has different woods of varying shades creating the floral pattern. I could not get a really good photo because of the glare on the glass (I am disabled and cannot lift the glass - it is heavy!). But it is best to see the tables in person as they are much more striking when you can see all the details up close.
These tables have been well cared for and meticulously dusted and cleaned on a regular basis since I have had them. They are very solid and extremely heavy! The top of the dining table can be removed for easier transport, but you will still need a couple or three strong bodies to move them. The chairs shown are not included, but we can sell them separately if you are interested.
Most people who have visited my home have fallen in love with these tables. Being so elaborate, they are not for all tastes, but for the right person, they will be priceless. We do invite dealers to look, but we will not sacrifice this set just so someone else can make a profit on it. We definitely want these to go to someone who will love them as much as we have. We will deal with serious local buyers only and will not respond to ridiculously low offers. We will take cash only, no checks, no PayPal, no money orders or no wire transfers. We will not ship, no matter how much extra money you promise to send. We will not respond to people with sisters getting married in Africa or marine biologists stuck on a ship in the mid-Pacific wanting to buy right away, or any of the other creative stories that scam artists present.
