 | This is a piece of history and a great playing trumpet. According Jim Donaldson's Benge Loyalist page this is the second oldest known large bore Chicago Benge. I love this horn but unfortunately college expenses are catching up to me and I can't afford to have two trumpets any longer. I purchased it in the original condition, it was an ok player then, but the valves (being over 50 years old) did leak and so did some of the slide. However, I thought the horn was too important historically and had to much potential to give up on. So, I sent it to Steve Winans, "Dr. Valve" one of the very top names in the world of trumpet overhaul. This horn has had its slides re-plated in nickel and honed to the tightest fit possible. Steve also rebuilt a few of the warped leaky slides with brass tubing of an exact match to the original. All the tubes are lined up with laser exactness, along with an OPM (optimum port matching, like a PVA but Dr. Valve style) and all topped off with beautiful 24K gold plating. This horn has no dents, no dings and is in perfect condition. I have only ever used the oil that Steve provided with the horn (5 starr) on it, and a bottle is included. I have also never kept the horn on a stand, only ever in its wolfpack singe case (new, also included) or in my hand. As you can see from the pictures, this horn would be great for a collector, especially a collector who also performs regularly, or just a professional looking for a high quality horn with a great sound. This horn comes with all the original parts before the restoration, and the original OPM card written by Steve Winans, so if you ever need replacement pads for the valves you could call him and get the exact size you need without having to pay for another OPM servicing. I will consider any offers sent my way, trades are an option but I basically just need the money to pay bills, so I will consider a trade but a straight purchase is preferred.
I go to school in the Bethlehem PA area and am willing to meet with people within a reasonable distance to allow for play tests. I also am willing to take more specific pictures of the trumpet from any angle if you wish to see anything not shown in the pictures on google. Thanks
