Synopsis:

The book recounts how in 1989, two graduate students, Francesca Cappelletti and Laura Testa, were researching the provenance of a Caravaggio painting when they inadvertently came across information in a 17th-century account book mentioning another Caravaggio work, the Taking of Christ, which had been missing for 200 years. As Francesca follows a trail of documents and clues in search of the painting, art restorer Sergio Benedetti stumbles across that same Caravaggio at a Dublin residence for Jesuit priests.
