WHAT A RARE TREAT! This is a parcel of very beautiful & exceptionally clean facet grade Apache Tear (obsidian) collected from the Apache Tears Locality in the Picketpost Mountain Area, Superior, Pinal County, Arizona. These unique & very attractive material will facet some rare faceted gemstones with a super eye clean clarity! With a 10X loupe, these rough nodule stones do of course have the typical bubble inclusions that are always found in naturally formed glasses (obsidian or also referred to as obsidianite). ((Apache tears are obsidian, which is a natural volcanic glass. Obsidian is typically always black and completely opaque, but their are other sources of obsidian that are naturally green, a rarer blue from China, and also a rare mahogany color, but much harder to acquire these due to their being super scarce, and very rarely transparent enough to be faceted. Obsidian also comes in a array of opaque colors such as rainbow, blue to velvet sheen, and a rarer green sheen also, but are never facted but only cabbed or carved.)) What makes these facet grade nodules unusual is that they are very transparent (internal of course) for this obsidian and has a beautiful smokey color (this is not a smokey quartz). Obsidian is very rarely transparent enough to be faceted! Excellent price for this unique & natural gem material!
