E-Book - A Real Hermit Who Lived In Splendor on a Beautiful Yacht  The Crew Grew Old Waiting To Sail
When Bayard Brown first came to England he moored his yacht off the little Essex fishing village of Brightlingsea. There he stayed - always ready to sail at a moments notice for twenty seven years.
Then, during the World war, the British authorities compelled him to take himself and his mysterious craft to the village of Wivenhoe, near by, and put in at a dry-dock.
He complied. and at Wivenhoe he remained nine years -- until his death. His crew became old and gray in his service. Several, in fact, died while awaiting the order to lift anchor and sail away.
Bayard Brown never gave that order. And now he never will. Nor will he tell why he left America thirty-six years ago to hide himself, thousands of miles from his native land, until death found him in 1926.
