The Store
Station Knowlton was first opened in 1995 in the Victorian village of Knowlton Quebec. The concept of combining a unique retail environment with a café quickly took off. The Montreal store was opened in September 2006 on Sherbrooke street W in NDG. In the summer of 2007 we added an espresso and smoothie bar.
The basic concept of the store is to bring back the "feel good" simplicity of bygone days. We offer a wide range of products that are generally unique, wholesome and offer good value with minimum packaging.
The sales have been steadily growing. There is incredible potential for growth in the following areas:
1) Melt and pour soap making classes. Both in store and for kid’s parties. This can serve to bring customers to the store as well as sell product ( melt & pour kits, glycerin soap, essential oils ) at parties and gatherings.
2) Selling our natural products to Schools and hospital for fund raising. People have expressed an interest in getting away from the standard chocolate bars.
3) Develop the coffee and smoothie bar. We make the best coffees and all natural smoothies anywhere. People who try it return. There is great potential in adding ice cream to the list.
4) Corporate gift baskets. We have some very unique personal care products including olive oil soaps, creams, shampoos and body butters. The corporate gift basket business is very lucrative. Our products fit almost any price point from very inexpensive to extravagant.
The candidate
The ideal candidate would be someone who has keen sense in getting involved in an exiting business that has tremendous potential. The person may have an interest in developing new products for market. There will be a need for a strong ongoing relationship between the current owners and the new buyers.
You will be gaining access to a valuable list of suppliers of unique wholesale products that the current owners have collected over 13 years. We search for new suppliers on an ongoing basis at the New York, Toronto and Boston shows. Our company is growing and we are in negotiation with people who are interested in opening new stores. Our growth interests are for steady growth. As the business grows so will the popularity and sales.
The candidate will be someone desiring a good quality of life and enjoy working in N.D.G. which is a very dynamic community.
By purchasing the existing Montreal store the agreement would entitle the new owner to a significant discount on all products produced by the current owners.
Current Lease
The current location has a lease that due on August 15, 2009. There is a option to renew for an additional 3 years.
Asking Price
The asking price is $85,000 plus stock ( approximately $5,000 ). The sale will include the items on the attached sheet.
