| Life: John F. Kennedy Anniversary Special Reprint: We recall him 25 years later with this historic issue
Winter, 1988
Condition and description: Extensive cover wear, tanning to cover and some pages, some cover tears. Spine is especially worn. This magazine is 20 years old.
From the inside cover: The first copies of this magazine, published two weeks after John F. Kennedy's killing, sold out immediately as a grieving America, seeking a memoir of its sadness, turned to LIFE. Three more printings of the issue had to be made to satisfy the nation's demand....Last summer, Esquire columnist Bob Greene found a copy of the issue in his parent's basement. He wrote: "I realized that - in an unexpected way - it told me more about that moment in history than all the learned analyses, with their benefit of hindsight, will tell me this Novemeber".
November 1988 was the 20th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. This magazine also contains the now-famous "Camelot epilogue" - Jacqueline Kennedy's interview with Theodore White - the only interview she gave after the assassination. |
