A Soldier faces the Lord on his judgment day

A young soldier, dressed in his uniform, shining boots and bright brass medals. This young soldier, 19 years old, was standing before God on his judgment day. God asked him about his life. The soldier said, God, I was a soldier, I wasn’t very religious, I didn’t go to Church. I was rough and tough, I fought, I drank and my language was sometimes vulgar. I was sent to battle, I was scared, this young man, he was wearing a different colored uniform, he was scared too; he was shaking, came at me with a rifle, I shot him. As I watched him die; he pulled out a picture from his pocket of a young woman holding a baby, and kissed the photo as he died. My best friend in the whole world was next to me, when he stepped on a bomb, my best friend blew up into several hundred pieces, parts of his body splattered all over me, the blast blew my helmet off, and some pieces of metal hit my head. I came home with these memories and medals, I was confused, always in pain, couldn’t sleep, nightmares of my best friend being blown up and that photo of a woman holding a baby.
I received controlled substance prescription medicines. They weren’t enough; I took to the streets for illegal drugs, stole money to buy them. One Saturday night I was in an alley with some drugs I just got, some people came, took my drugs and beat me badly, and I died there. They took all my clothes, everything I had, and threw my naked body into a dumpster, and covered me with an old newspaper page.
My parents, they loved me, they buried me in this uniform with my shiny boots and these medals. God, please, can’t I have a small corner in your kingdom, I won’t bother anyone. God look at him and said, son, you already have spent your time in hell, go and walk in the streets of Heaven in your bright shiny boots.
