I have an authentic pair of Civil War field glasses. These field glasses were owned by Private James Hassler of the Union Army. He mustered into service with the 16th Pennsylvania Cavalry, Company H, on September 29, 1862. He was discharged in July, 1863, after a battle injury necessitated the amputation of his right leg. It is unusual that you get this much information on the original owner of such a wonderful military artifact. These field glasses show that they were carried through battles. The lens' need to be tightened, but I am not going to take a chance of damaging them, so I will let the purchaser decide if he/she wants to work on them or leave them in their present condition. The lenses are intact and clear. You could ac tually use these glasses, s you re enactors take note. $75 cash on pick up in Greencastle, or I can ship them to you at your expense.
