Director: Allan Moyle; Format: VHS; Rating: R; Release Date: 1995; Sound: SurroundSound, Closed Captioned; Length: 105 minutes; UPC: 794043409738. Condition: Very Good. From personal collection, NOT a previous rental. Has a little damage on very top flap of cover (not on front), but otherwise still looks great overall and tape plays well. Same cover design as that shown here.

Movie Description:
By day, Mark Hunter is a painfully shy kid in a small Arizona town. But by night, he's Hard Harry, the cynical, uncensored DJ of a pirate radio station set up in his basement. He plays very cool music and rants about consumer culture, the danger of complacency, uncaring adults, and high school. Idolized by his high school classmates (who are unaware of his real identity), Harry becomes a hero with his fiercely funny monologues on sex, love and rock and roll. He also takes calls from other lonely teens, but fails to prevent one depressed caller from commiting suicide. And when he exposes the corrupt school principal, she calls in the FCC to shut Harry down. However, Mark hangs in there and broadcasts a call-to-arms that galvanizes the town's youth to demonstrate their unity. "Pump Up The Volume" could be subtitled "Rebel with a Cause" in that a shy, intelligent teenager tries to use his anger for the higher good. It is perhaps one of the best films made about contemporary suburban teenagers and their feelings of alienation and boredom.
