A new 8 x 5 1/2 inch paperback book sold by Iowa author Fay Risner in reader friendly 12 font for easy reading - non fiction - Hello Alzheimer's Goodbye Dad follows Bill Bullock's ten year battle with Alzheimer's disease as chronicled in his daughter's journal. If you ever drove highway 30 across Iowa you passed by Bill and Sylvia's Standard gas station (1961 - 1987). Perhaps you stopped in their quaint station with a saloon bar counter and wooden pop case and met them. With all that Alzheimer's tossed Bill's way as he and his family struggled with the disease, his wife, Sylvia, stands out in the story for her strength, courage and determination to take care of Bill to the end and against all odds. This story is an awareness and education for people interested in Alzheimer's disease. Helpful caregiver tips at the end of chapters. Written from my experience in long term care as a CNA. was awarded 2004 Nurse Aide of the year by the Iowa Health Care Association, 2006 Professional Caregiver by the Alzheimer's Association, 8 years a facilitator of a support group and am in the outreach program of the East Central Iowa Alzheimer's Association, doing presentations on awareness and education about this disease.

Fay tells the poignant story of her father's last ten years of life and the struggles that she and her family went through as caregivers. This book contains a lot of information. Highly recommended for any family facing this or other dementia health issues.
Reader Review
This book has great value for families with Alzheimer's patients. There were so many times I smiled while reading and so many times that tears came.
