Shimano is undeniably one of the best in the business when it comes to rod construction. These Shimano 7' Solara SLS-70MB2 (2 pc) spinning rods are Fast Action, Medium Power (Line Wt. = 6-14 lbs.). Highly versatile, they can be used in a wide variety of river, stream, lake, or saltwater applications with mono, flouro, or braid.
The Shimano Solara features durable aeroglass blank construction, reinforced aluminum oxide guides (5+tip), a solid locking graphite reel seat, and comfortable cork handles. Supported by highly favorable ratings, and known for their dependability, reliability, and durability, these Shimano FXS spinning rods pair up perfectly with their high value EF4000 (10 bb) reel mates.
The EF4000 is a generic, premium quality spinning reel. Starting with a 10 bb system, a gear ratio of 5.5:1, an aluminum spool, corrosive resistant metal parts, and an interchangeable, collapsible rocker arm with wooden handle this reel is truly a superior quality product. Like the Solara rod, this EF4000 reel can be used in a wide variety of river, stream, lake, or saltwater applications with mono, flouro, or braid. It has a mono line capacity (lbs.-yds.) of 12-130 and a PowerPro braided line capacity of 30-145. The reels have been spooled with 12 lb. Berkley Trilene XL Smooth Casting Clear Mono, or 20 lb. KastKing SuperPower Blue Braid, or 30 lb. PowerPro Moss Green Braid.
Buy the components of these combos, and you will pay $27.08 ($19.72 + $1.39 tax + $5.97 VS) for a 7' Shimano Solara SLS-70MB2 (2 pc) spinning rod and $37.72 ($29.95 + $1.80 tax + $5.97 VS) for the EF4000 10 bb spinning reel, a total of $58.62 for the rod and reel. Add the cost of the line, $10.91 ($7.49 + $0.45 tax + $2.97 VS) for the 12 lb. Berkley Trilene XL Smooth Casting Clear Mono Line, $16.93 ($13.96 + $2.97 VS) for the 20 lb. KastKing SuperPower Blue Braided Line, or $23.62 ($17.59 + $1.06 tax + $4.97 VS) for the 30 lb. PowerPro Moss Green Braided Line, and you come up with the following totals:
1 combo with 12 lb. XL = $75.71 ($64.80 + $10.91), 2 combos = $151.42;
1 combo with 20 lb. KK = $81.73 ($64.80+ $16.93), 2 combos = $163.46;
1 combo with 30 lb. PP = $88.42 ($64.80 + $23.62), 2 combos = $176.84.
Note that the difference in price is a function of the line selected, with XL mono being the lowest price ($10.91) and PowerPro, state-of-the-art braid (made from the same material as bullet-proof vests) being the highest price ($23.62).
As an inducement to get you to try this new rod and reel combo, these premium reels have been deeply discounted as part of the reel manufacturer’s program to launch its new product.Follow up on this ad, and you can buy:
