Gouldian Finches, native to Australia, are endangered species. These birds were bred in captivity. Their vibrant colors make them a beautiful addition to any home. Gouldian Finches are a very quiet bird yet their faint chirps add a pleasant piece of atmosphere to any area.

Although Gouldian Finches are a tropical bird, they can adapt to most temperatures in any home, 68 - 80 degrees. If the temperature is cool, a small light can be used on their cage for heat and a blanket over the cage at night.

Finches are known for their prolific breeding. If hatchlings are desirable, use the appropriate breeding box. If not, use small nests for these finches to nest in and remove the eggs from the nest periodically.

Gouldian Finches diets are the same as other Finches, millet and seed. As with other types of finches, food is a major factor as their metabolisms are fast and they cannot run out of food.

One of the great things about keeping finches is that they are small and cannot produce a lot of waste or make a mess. They do not require human interaction.

Gouldian Finches are very cute, add atmosphere, and liven up living spaces - especially during the doldrums of winter.
