New book sold by Iowa author Fay Risner. My Children Are More Precious Than Gold is a story inspired by author's grandmother Veder Bishop Bright. She lived a tale much like the ones in this book. Story takes place in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Riner, Virginia. In Veder's words, the family was as poor as church mice but so was everyone else on the ridge. This historical fiction takes a look at the way of life in 1903. An educational book for children wanting to know what it was like a 100 years ago.
