Just a short "overview" of what all may be involved in the removal and finishing of a sprayed texture "popcorn" type ceiling; There are several "basic steps" in removal of textured popcorn ceilings.

1) The prep involved in each room where "popcorn ceilings" are to be removed; (2) scraping the "popcorn" material off the ceiling; (3) All "finish" Tape / Float / Texture as may be required; (4) Texturing as desired and (5) Finish Painting that will require a sealer coat (1) and a Finish Coat (1) .. of course, Other issues that become a part of a job can  include: Remove / Reset Light Fixtures etc., furniture and floor protection etc. etc.
