The wonderful song of the Belgian Waterslager Canary is distinctive and melodic. Their sound is likened to that of a bubbling brook with the notes of a nightingale. Their repertoire includes bell and flute sounds that are unlike any other bird. They have the lowest and highest range of notes for all song canaries. Waterslagers make excellent indoor songsters as they are not as loud as other canaries, having a soft to medium song strength.
Belgian Waterslagers are one of the oldest breeds of canary with references dating back to the year 1713 and the oldest song canary club being founded in 1872.
