WOW, here is a very beautiful top end prasiolite where the gem rough was mined from the Montezuma mines in the Minas Gerais State of Brazil. To start, prasiolite is produced by heating violet amethyst or yellow quartz from the Montezuma deposit in Mins Gerais, Brazil. It is turned green to mint green by heating at about 400 to 500 degrees C. Other deposits of heatable amethyst have recently been reported in Arizona, but not as high quality as the deposits in Brazil. There is a lot of irradiated treated quartz that has been appearing in todays market, which is the majority of "green amethyst" seen in todays market. It is been called many names, but the most notable ones are, "Green Amethyst", "Amegreen" or "Vermarine". All these names are misnomers, and this specific material should only be respectably called "Prasiolite", and nothing else. This gem has that very top end mint green color and near flawless clarity, remarkable luster and a well executed cut. This gem has a superior face up appearance and a very gemmy eye appeal!
