The Day the Universe Changed with James Burke (1985)

This is a set of 8 DVDs featuring James Burke's "The Day the Universe Changed" produced in 1985.
The DVDs were produced by a state college for use with a science and technology class and are COMPLETE WITH ALL 10 EPISODES OF "THE DAY THE UNIVERSE CHANGED" and includes all 10 Discussions with James Burke Episodes.

These DVDs were produced as a university study course as "Science and Technology in Western Culture" (CDL Course 243454). They include all ten hour shows as well as ten half hour discussion presentations which begin with an interview with James Burke followed by a discussion interview with a leading university history/science historian on the ten chapters of the original companion book to the TV series. A must have if your a James Burke fan!
This series based on a simple premise, the universe is essentially only how you yourself perceive it. If you change what you know about the universe, then to you, you have essentially changed the universe itself. In this series, James Burke explores nine key moments in the history of the Western world when the introduction of new knowledge and/or technology has led to profound changes in how the West thinks. These include things like the introduction of Guttenberg's printing press, Copernicus's sun centered universe model and Darwin's publishing of his theory of evolution.
