 | | From 1935-39 Gibson built Cromwell guitars as a budget brand available through mail order businesses. The Vintage Guitar guide prices these archtops at 700-1600 U.S. This is your chance to own a 1930s carved top Gibson at a fraction of the price. 19 fret fingerboard with pearl dot inlays and white centre stripe. 24 and ¾ inch scale. Neck is one inch deep at 1st fret. Open-back three on a strip tuners, made in U.S.A stamped on back of headstock. One and ¾ inch nut width 16 inch wide body at lower bout, 11.5 inch upper bout. 3 and ¼ inch body depth. 41 inch overall length. Carved solid top with adjustable rosewood bridge. White bindings on body top and back. Condition: The top and back has no cracks or repairs and the binding is all solid. The lower bout edge has had an ancient crack repaired and oversprayed. Significant playwear on the top led the owner to install the pickguard. There is a newer DeArmond™ pickup installed and functioning perfectly, complete with cord. There are extensive dings and scratches on the body edges upper bout area. The neck is very straight and action is nice and low. The guitar has just had a setup. Our technician dressed and crowned the frets, cleaned and oiled the fretboard, reglued the nut, lubed the controls. There is a stamp inside the guitar, 237A 68 with the 68 in red pencil, designating this as a 1935 Cromwell built by Gibson. Vintage softshell case in excellent condition. | | 1935 Gibson-made Cromwell Archtop Guitar (Solid top!) | 1935 Gibson-made Cromwell Archtop Guitar (Solid top!) | 1935 Gibson-made Cromwell Archtop Guitar (Solid top!) | 1935 Gibson-made Cromwell Archtop Guitar (Solid top!) | 1935 Gibson-made Cromwell Archtop Guitar (Solid top!) | |
