Quicken has long been one of the two heavyweight fighters in the persona l finance arena. And as it slugs it out for supremacy with Microsoft's Money, the package just gets better--and continues to pack more in for your cash.
There is a good reason that it's the world's best-selling personal finance software and that is that it takes on the complex mess of your money matters and makes them simple. You won't be dealing with complex spreadsheets and calculators--though you will be able to produce some pretty impressive looking pie and flow charts as you track the upward curve of your finances. What you will produce in Quicken is a simple Web-style "home page", compiled from the information on your financial accounts, which the package has painstakingly extracted from you.
And from there it's one click to everything you need to know. When's my next mortgage payment due? How much will that leave in my account? How is my monthly income measuring up against my expenditure? How much will I be worth in a year's time? Where can I get help? And you can click for that help on to the complementary (and excellent)quicken Web site.
Your Quicken home page, meanwhile, is infinitely customizable, so you can adapt and refine it as you grow with the product, incorporating bar charts to map your current account say, or adding an index of your stocks and shares.
