I have more pics than is allowable on this site. Replies will get more pics by email.

This sextant has a frame of blackened brass. This is sextant #25919 and carries the "HUSUN" trademark plate although it is hard to make out. The silvered scale is graduated every degree from -5o to +130o and read by ivory micrometer with electric light to 10 seconds of arc. Hughes was making micrometer sextants by the early 1930s.

Both mirrors, 4 square filters, and 3 round filters are all in excellent condition. The accessories consist of a 2½ power scope, eyepiece sun filter, and a smaller power scope. The brass telescopes are in good shape with some tarnish (see photos). The 8 1/2 inch brass arc is in great shape and clearly engraved "H. Hughes & Son Ltd. London" "Made in England " and "25919". The drum micrometer works great and has a quick release clamp. On the other side there is a backlight handle that holds the battery for the light which works perfectly and in great shape. The exterior of the felt-lined dovetail box with its brass handle and clasps shows some wear but is in good solid shape. The felt-lined dovetail case has fitted brass hardware and measures approximately 10.38 x 10.75 x 5.63 in (26.35 x 27.31 x 14.29 cm) and weighs about 12 lbs . Inside the lid is a "certificate of Serviceability" dated "March 10th 1986".

This is a genuine old sextant " not a reproduction and definitely a nice addition for any collection because it has definitely seen some action in it's time. There is no specific year of manufacture clearly labeled but judging from the name "H. Hughes & Son Ltd. London", this gives it a date of between 1903 - 1947 and since it bears the "HUSUN" logo that was used after the year 1920 we can narrow the date to between 1920 and 1947. Judging from other sextants I have researched that bear the same similarities and features I would judge that it is roughly from 1944 - 1947.

I am asking for $450 but more than willing to talk about price as long as things are reasonable.
