Synopsis:
Banks's ambitious novel tells two parallel and interlocking stories. Bob Dubois is a New Hampshire oil-burner repairman who hopes to start over in Florida, where his brother has promised him a good job in his liquor store. He and his family move there-and, after a violent robbery at the store, Dubois very quickly loses any semblance of control over his life. At the same time, a Haitian woman, Vanise Dorsinville, and her young son, illegal immigrants, also settle in Florida, looking for a better life. These two stories weave together in a heart-rending narrative of struggle and failure. In authorial asides, Banks inserts himself into the narrative to provide information on the characters, and analyses of their faults and virtues.

No original shipping costs will be refunded, unless we are at fault for sending you the wrong item or misrepresenting the product and/or its condition. This hasnt happened yet, but if it does: you are guaranteed a refund of the purchase price, the original shipping fee, PLUS the cost to ship the item back to us.
