Synopsis:

Coupling is a 2003 American remake of the British TV sitcom Coupling. It failed to perform in the ratings and was canceled prior to completing its first season on NBC. The American adaptation came at a time when NBC was having success with remakes of BBC The Weakest Link and Dog Eat Dog.

Four series/seasons of Coupling were produced for the BBC. The program was thought to have ended when the American network NBC began work on an American adaptation, which NBC was reportedly hoping to position as a replacement for Friends.

Because of what was perceived as indecent content, two affiliates of NBC refused to air the program; KSL-TV (Channel 5) in Salt Lake City, and WNDU (Channel 16) in South Bend, Indiana.
