 | Set of two auto-signed note cards, one from Senator Edward Kennedy, the other from his then-wife, Joan. The envelope in which Senator Kennedy's card was sent in is also included.
These cards have been in my family since the 60's. I am not sure what led up to them being sent. The envelope is postmarked August 27, 1969, which dates it shortly after Chappaquiddick.
There is significant wear to the envelope, which is badly creased and torn on the back. The cards themselves were not kept with an eye toward historic interest or preservation, and thus, they show some wear and soiling.
The card from the late Senator has some tiny rust colored spots - 5 or 6, and some soiling from handling. The bottom left corner appears to be creased, just a little.
The card from Joan Kennedy has yellowed tape residue on the back, some soiling from handling on the front. |
