lets get this out there first, any sellers claiming to have the complete series, or 60 episodes are lying to you, there were no even 60 episodes made, ask them to list the episodes they have, they wont be able to!

now, did you know FRIDAYS HAS FINALLY BEEN RELEASED ON OFFICIAL DVD! go to AMAZON and you can now find the official box set for sale, BEST OF FRIDAYS on five dvds. if you are a true fan of fridays i suggest buying the box set as it has material that is not found in my set and is in remastered quality.

HOWEVER there is a down side to the set! so i will give you the details on the new box set as well as my collection here consisting of much more material not found in the box set.

the basic problem with the box set is that the episodes have been BUTCHERED!
out of 16 episodes in the set ALL but three of them have been cut down to UNDER 40 minutes! all of them in the 30 minute range, 32, 35, 38 minutes etc. Sixteen episodes that are over before you know it.

actually NONE of the episodes were full length, but most of them are just shredded to 30+ minutes each. as well many of them have the music acts COMPLETELY cut from the episode or at the least cut down to one performance rather than two. tragic, simply tragic what they did to the series.

there is the bonus disc, disc five. it has cast interviews, writer interviews, and some things like what really happened during the kaufman episode. that disc is nice to see as a fan of the show, i like so see everyone talking about the show again, although no larry david, as far as i am aware he never was proud of the show and not interested in the dvd release.

the problem with the bonus disc though is they talk about a lot of things in the show, certain episodes or skits, etc, that are NOT actually in the box set! HOWEVER most of the things they talk about ARE in my collection here. For instance the PRIMETIME SPECIAL. i have it, they dont. the legendary plasmatics performance, not in the box set but its in mine, they go on about how certain guest hosts were great like george carlin, george hamilton, and henny youngman, but those episodes are not in the box set, but they ARE in my set.

or for instance they have the section talking in detail about kaufman, talking about BOTH times he hosted the show, HOWEVER they only have ONE episode where he hosts, when the fight happens. they DONT include the next seasons episode where andy hosted again, however i DO have that episodes in my set here.

as well almost all of the missing music performances INCLUDING the musical acts from episodes not in the box set are in my set. i have almost all of the musical acts shown on fridays included in my set.

not only do i have many missing episodes and musical acts, i also have extras i added to the set like old interviews of the cast from the 80s and 90s. basically my set is LOADED with lost fridays footage. MORE material than any other seller offers and MUCH MORE than found in the box set.

the other issue i have with the box set is its called the best of fridays, however to be totally honest, some of the episodes they chose to include are duds. fridays was a good show however fridays did have some skits that just didnt fly, or some episodes that just didnt get going. on the other hand they had some amazing episodes that were way out there and way funny. unfortunately the box set seemed to have a few of those duds included, and since almost all of the episodes in the box set are cut down in length many good skits were cut leaving mostly boring ones behind. again tragic. an official release of this show could have been amazing, if they wanted to cut items, they could have easily cut the crap out and left stellar skits in place but they did not. as well the flow of the episodes is screwed up since they chopped them down so much.

with all that said i do highly suggest buying the box set because again they do have a lot of stuff that i do not have as well the quality is better, and i personally always enjoy bonus discs and was happy to see they included one. i was worried that when they finally released this show it would not have any bonus material so i glad its there.

and if you are really a fridays fan and want to see more fridays, far more than the box sets gives you, well then my set has you covered. and honestly my set simply has more funny footage in it. here is an example, some of the best skits, battle boy and the pharmacist, i could never get enough of those, well there seems to be only two skits of each in the box set, and only one skit of the rasta gourmet, my set has more skits of all of those. again tragic work on the box set.

the primetime special with cameos by many previous hosts, also four dvds of just the live music performances.
multiple episodes with no guest host,
and here are the hosted episodes i have; the FIRST episode to have a guest host - george carlin! (carlin was also the first host of SNL) no other sellers have this episode, michael mckean, david lander again no sellers have that episode, henny youngman, george hamilton, marilu henner, both epis. with andy kaufman, both epi. w valerie bertinelli, william shatner, victoria principal, susan sarandon, billie crystal, lynn redgrave, father guido sarducci, gregory hines, karen allen, tab hunter, tony geary, gene francis, mark hamill, david steinberg, madeline kahn, howard rollins, shelly duvall, valerie harper, and shelly winters.
lastly NO FILLERS, all fridays, in other words some sellers add bonus discs to their sets to make them look larger, they dont add more fridays, instead they throw in other dvds with random comedy shows and stuff, because they do not have 13 dvds of fridays available, they do not have the episodes i have available.

simply put NO OTHER SELLERS have as much footage as my set, no other sellers have better quality, NO sellers have the complete series, there is no such thing as complete, i have ALL fridays footage available in circulation, this is the largest set, no other sellers have everything i offer in my set.

also here are some other items i have available that are related to fridays;

the pharmacist played by mark blankfied inspired a movie starring mark called "jekyll and hyde together again" where mark played the mad scientist, dr. jekyll. that movie is also available officially on amazon, however its sequel is not, its sequel was called "frankenstein general hospital", again with mark playing a mad scientist, dr. frankenstein, i have that on dvd.

do you know steve martins movie the jerk had a sequel? well sort of, it had a remake, a tv pilot called "the jerk, too", this time starring mark blankfield in steves role as the jerk. i have that on dvd, unavailable elsewhere.

mark blankfield was also on "the cheech show", a 30 minute comedy starring cheech marin, mark was a cast member, i have that on dvd, unavailable elsewhere.

remember rich hall on fridays doing the news with melanie chartoff? he had a skit called small town news. that skit inspired a one hour hbo comedy special with rich driving around america to small towns called "rich hall's america", i have that on dvd, unavailable elsewhere.

besides fridays rich hall was also on a short lived series called "not necessarily the news" which was another hbo production. i have a 9 dvd set of the show, unavailable elsewhere.
