1920's Graphite on Paper,"Balinese Boy" by Maurice Sterne.
This is really a wonderful piece, I don't know if the piece was done while his visit to Bali in the early 1900's but the New York times released and article in 1915 about Sterne's stay in Bali so this piece may be earlier than the 1920's.
The piece is in good conditions but there are some minor signs of water damage on one side of the frame, but the drawing is not affected, also there is a very little area on the subject's elbow where the paper was sort of peeled don so that little part is damaged but it is less than a quarter of an inch in length.
The piece measures 28 1/2" high x 18 1/2" wide(Including Frame)and 20" high x 20 1/4" wide (without frame) but not including matting.
The piece is signed for autenthicity. |
