 | Description:This is for ONE original out of a new box of ten Mauthe Electric battery clock motor.
This is an original in the box Mauthe Electric battery clock. Before quartz battery clocks came out Mauthe took the "electric" clock to the max by merging a windup and electric clock together. The second hand has the "sweep" or hover effect like the electric clocks. It ticks about 16-18 times a second, this is because it uses a balance to keep accurate time.
They have never been used. I have had them on a shelf since the late 60's but never used them. They are "new" never been used but they are old stock. Because they are old stock each clock movement was serviced and I personally checked them out for weeks to be sure there was no factory or age defects. They have a timing adjustment on them so with the proper adjustment you can have them be as accurate as any clock out there.
Because these movements predate the modern quartz clock technology, they are made to the repairable standards of the time. In other words because everything currently being made in the battery clock world is only replaceable when it breaks, this movement has a quality standard that is not seen today. If something goes wrong with it in 15 even 30 years they are serviceable. I get these in my shop every so often that are 30-40 years old and just barely stopped keeping accurate time. I clean and service them and they always work again like new. They are incredible.
