Here for your consideration at a super value is 3 slabs of Petrified Wood (also called fossilized wood) from the material displayed in the picture. These beautiful pieces were collected at Medicine Bow, Wiggins Fork, Wyoming -Vermillion Cliffs, Fry Canyon, Utah - North of Kremmling, Colorado - Snow Flake, Arizona and a few private locations. ((PETRIFIED WOOD IS FOSSILIZED WOOD WITH THE MINERAL COMPOSITION OF JASPER, CHALCEDONY, AND. LESS FREQUENTLY, OPAL (SILICON DIOXIDE ONLY). JUST A LITTLE HINT OF GOOD INFORMATION; "THE WOOD DOES NOT ACTUALLY BECOME STONE AS IS USUALLY UNDERSTOOD BY THE LAYMAN. THE ORGANIC WOOD IS NOT CHANGED INTO STONE , BUT ONLY THE SHAPE AND STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS OF THE WOOD ARE PRESERVED")) These pieces range no less than 2" long X 2" wide x 0.25" thick, the majority are well over this size and run at very least, a guaranteed $9.00 per piece on eBay and other web sites, just look and you will see! They display many different colors including dull gray, brown, light brown, red, pink, yellow, white to creamy, and even a few blue to violet (RARE COLORS). The colors will become stronger with polishing, as these are pictured 100% dry! Would make some fine cabochons & great for jewelry projects! Great material for a starter collection or even an addition to any existing collection or even for a learning experience for the kids.
