Currently the personal car of Creative Film Cars owner, Donald Almquist, this beautiful 280SL Pagoda has just emerged from an extensive refurbishment. Recently featured in print work for Polo Ralph Lauren, The Limited and Gillette this car is a stunning example of the highly sought after, and rare manual transmission W113. Like the 300SL, the Mercedes 280SL has turned into a highly prized collectible automobile gaining in value every year. Here is your chance to invest in a very fine, sorted out example.
A Bit of History:
Purchased from a prominent Manhattan dentist who kept it as a toy in the Hamptons and drove it infrequently. Sold it because of divorce. He originally purchased it from a collector in Florida. In 2005 he had the engine redone with a Metric Motor short block and the head rebuilt by Hampton Racing Engine. So it has a bit more pep than stock. At the same time a new clutch, master and slave cylinders were installed. Less than 1000 miles since. All work was performed by a certified Mercedes technician from Mercedes Benz of Southampton.

The car was purchased by Creative Film Cars in the Fall of 2006, and while in our care we have performed the following work:

Exterior:
Complete new paint in factory correct Light Beige. The car was fully stripped of the interior and exterior, windshield out, doors off, hood off, trunk lid off. Down to bare metal. Engine stayed in, as did the suspension. Car was found to have rust in the rockers so they were totally replaced along with the floor pans and tail panel with all MB parts. Work was done by Precision Auto Works who are very experienced with 280SL’s, as well as Ferraris, Rolls-Royce and Jaguars. Front fender notches were retained, as was the original glass.
New German canvas convertible top (correct "Sonnenland" material)
New rear bumpers
Lower side trim restored and polished
New MB hubcaps (painted with car)
New correct Hirshmann antenna
New chrome exhaust tips
New chrome moulding rubber
New front fender splash panels and seals
New threshold mats
Hard top painted with car. New headliner installed. (Comes with rolling hardtop stand)
California car cover

Interior:
Seats and headrest recovered with correct MB-Tex
Seat pads replaced.
New body rubber and seals. (doors, trunk, windshield, etc.)
Refurbished sun visors.
Original carpets in excellent condition

Suspension:
New whitewall tires
New shocks (Bilstein, front and rear)
Rear axle bushings replaced (upper center and control arm bushings)
New spring pads (springs pulled and cleaned)

Mechanical:
Complete fuel delivery restoration including: New Fuel Tank, Fuel Pump and Fuel Injection Pump, Fuel Filter, and Cold Start Valve.
Rear brake calipers, rotors, pads, and hoses.
Rebuilt power steering pump and pulley.
Heater and vent controls rebuilt.
New Temperature Gauge.
Complete Tune Up
Mechanical work was completed by Rheinland Motors and Kraft German Auto, both highly regarded for their work on older Mercedes.
We have over $30,000 in receipts, and a restoration photo journal that will come with the car.
The car comes with its original, working Becker radio. It also has its original jack, wheel chock, lug wrench, and spare tire cover.
The Fridgking A/C system is original to the car. It currently needs the compressor and receiver dryer to function. Parts are readily available and relativity inexpensive. We never needed to use it so it wasn’t worked on.
We have described the above-mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective, so we recommend that the potential buyer inspect as well as test drive the vehicle before finalizing purchase. The vehicle is sold in "AS IS" condition. If your personal inspection is not possible, we will be glad to help facilitate an inspection by your chosen local independent service center and will make arrangements to deliver the vehicle to them for this purpose for a small fee.

Shipping and delivery:
Shipping and delivery are NOT included in the sale price. Creative Film Cars is very experienced with shipping vehicles across the US and worldwide, and would be glad to assist you in making arrangements.
