FIRST OF ALL, NATURAL RUBY-ZOISITE OR OTHERWISE CALLED ANYOLITE BY THE LOCAL MASAI IN TANZANIA, AFRICA, IS A MIX (BLEND) OF GREEN ZOISITE (MINERAL SPECIES WHERE TANZANITE DERIVES FROM) AND RED CORUNDUM (RUBY) WHICH MAKES SUCH BEAUTIFULL & PHENOMENAL CARVINGS & CABS INCLUDING CUT "LONGIDO RUBY'S".
Here is a natural "untreated" truly magnificent & gemmy ruby-zoisite gem rough/specimen mined from the Longido mines in Northeast Tanzania, near Mount Kilimanjaro (where the Tanzanite mines are). The Longido mines are renowned for it's very fine top color green zoisite, ruby-zoisite & ruby's. Due to ruby-zoisites (anyolite) color contrast, it makes very effective gems, gem carvings, ornamental stones, and is highly prized as such. We are talking a absolutely very fine & very gemmy gem rough/specimen here my fellow members & a whopping 123 grams (615 carats)! This gem rough has a remarkable distinct green zoisite (with common black hornblende inclusions) surrounding (overlaying) a very solid red corundum (ruby) core.
