COMMENTS: An excellent substitute for Tanzanite without the high price of Tanzanite. The term "Water Sapphire" is a mis-leading name for Iolite.
Here is a impressive Tanzania Iolite my fellow members! This gem has a spectacular rich violet-blue color (tanzanite color) and exceptional clarity (especially for this type gem), & remarkable luster. The Tanzania iolite is by far one, if not the highest quality of iolite on the market these days due to it's lower yellowing and it's richer blues, violets, and purples. IT IS NOT VERY HARD TO FIND GEM QUALITY IOLITE STONES THAT ARE CUT IN LARGE SIZE STONES THAT CAN GO UP TO 4 OR 5 CARATS PER PIECE. HOWEVER THESE LARGE IOLITE GEMSTONES ARE GETTING TO BE RARER AS DEMAND INCREASES. THE RISING PRICES OF TANZANITE IS ONE REASON FOR THE RISING COST FOR IOLITE GEMS. IOLITE IS MORE DURABLE AS COMPARED TO TANZANITE THUS IOLITE JEWELRY HAS A BETTER LONGTERM DURABILITY AS COMPARED TO TANZANITE JEWELRY.
