 | Rare 1944 Gibson J-45 "banner" with money-back guarantee. From original owner, this banner exhibits the characteristics of the wartime J-45 with a number of variations from standard because of material shortages. It has a beautiful mahogany top, back and sides, adjustable trussrod, poplar neckblock, ebony (coffeewood) fretboard, FON 609-21. When I got it from the orginal owner, the tuners had been replaced with double row Kluson deluxe tuners, and it required a neck reset, refret, and a minor crack on the side of the lower bout repaired.
Neck has been reset, and the action is perfect, with no adjustment to original saddle or bridge. One perfectly repaired crack on lower bout side. This is an exceptionally beautiful instrument, with extensive finish crazing. The mahogany top produces a rich, warm tone. I've contributed a newer Gibson hardshell case with shroud for extra protection. A truly unique "banner" J-45.
