Classified Details
Lionel Barrymore framed etching "San Pedro" in great condition. Has a little water damage. Says San Pedro on the bottom left corner and is signed by Lionel Barrymore on the bottom right corner. Has a paper on the back that says: "San Pedro. Original Etching by Lionel Barrymore. Reproduced in Talio-Crome. Dickens' "Christmas Carol" on the radio during the afternoon of Christmas Day became almost an American traidtion. One of America's best known and best loved actors made the part of "old Scrooge" live and breathe. That actor was, of course, Lionel Barrymore. There was hardly a theater-goer or movie fan the country over who had not thrilled to his protrayal of loveable characters. However, few of them know of the odd moments between scenes or pictures that found Lionel down by his beloved sea, sketching. Nor were many aware that he often translated these sketches into excellent etchings. Unfortunately, Mr. Barrymore had too few opportunities to devote to his hobby. Consequently, but few of his etchings ever reached the galleries and the public. It was not until the twilight of his life that he consented to have some of his etchings reproduced in order that his millions of admirers might have a look at his work. Reproduced from the original is this excellent Talio-Crome facsimile of one of the late Mr. Barrymore's favorites, "San Pedro." Now considered to be a collector's piece, it may be most suitably framed in a narrow toned-wood moulding. San Pedro - Story of the Picture." Frame measures approximately 18 inches wide by 14 inches high.
