FAQs
How
can I get the latest driver for DVD-to-Go card?
The latest driver can obtained by going into our Support section
...DVD-to-Go
...Driver Update
Can I
play DVD titles in a different country or REGION?
You can play DVD titles in different countries or regions by changing
the region code up to 5 TIMES (including the setup choice). After that,
the last REGION setting is permanently marked. This feature is required
to be compliant with the DVD Specification.
Can I
play DVD titles using my CD-ROM drive?
Unfortunately, CD-ROM drives cannot read DVDs since the format is
completely different. CD-ROM drives detect CD-ROM, audio CD, Video CD
and Recordable-CD. On the other hand, DVD-ROM drives detect DVD-ROM as
well as those read by CD-ROM drives.
What
if my notebook does not have a DVD drive, can I still use the card?
Yes, the DVD-to-Go card can decode and playback MPEG-1, VideoCD and
MPEG-2 clips directly from either the hard disk or CD-ROM Drive.
What
are the relative advantages of using the DVD-to-Go card over using a
CPU-based MPEG player, other than increased multi-tasking abilities.
I.E. How would this card compare to a Pentium 266 MHz running under
Win95 or Win98?
The advantage of using the DVD-to-Go card is to utilize less system
performance while other applications running at the same time. An
ability of playing back your DVD title in full-screen and full-motion
(30 frames per second).
Can I
play MPEG and AVI files using the DVD-to-Go card?
You can playback MPEG files using the DVD-to-Go card but not the AVI
files since these type of files are not compressed.
What
version of DVD-to-Go driver should I be using with my system?
If you are running Windows
95...then
download the MCI-based driver.
If you are running Windows
98
and ...
- you have an ATI-Mobility VGA chipset then download the
WDM-based driver.
- the MCI-based driver is not working then download the
WDM-based
driver. You should always try the MCI-based driver first.
- you intend to use applications that make use of MCI (the
application would list MCI as a requirement in its manual or box) then
use the MCI-based driver.
If you are running Windows
2000...then
download the WDM-based driver.
If you are running Windows
NT4...then
contact our sales team.
I live in Europe, how do I
set the
Region Code to 2?
It is important that you CAN ONLY play the DVD titles from that region
due to the compliance with the specification of DVD. Since majority of
the DVD drives are RPC-II (ie, phase II), the region information is
stored within the DVD drive. The only way to restore the count is to
contact your DVD drive or notebook manufacturer.
Does the
DVD-to-Go
card come with a DVD player or I can use it with my notebook's CD-ROM
player? What type of drive is recommended?
The DVD-to-Go card DOES NOT come with a DVD drive and you certainly can
use the card with your notebook's CD-ROM drive. If you are planning to
use the card to view DVD disc / title, you would need to have either an
internal or external DVD drive in order for the disc to be read.
How
do I know if my notebook is compatible with your
DVD-to-Go card?
It is important to know if your notebook is Zoomed Video (ZV) enabled
in order to use our product. This can be done by either checking the
notebook's User Manual or contacting its manufacturer. You can verify
your notebook by checking our Systems
Compatibility ZV notebooks list especially the matrix at the
top of
the list.
