 | CURTIS CONTROLLER REPAIR method of opening case INFO
You don't have to buy this listing!
.. because there is "free information"
on how to open a Curtis controller by dunking it in boiling water.
Oddly enough, that "free information" comes from a Curtis' competitor!
You are bidding on a video clip (in Windows .WMV format) that shows how to open a 1221/1231 Curtis Controller without having to use water (so that you can repair your Curtis Controllers).
For an electric vehicle, Curtis Controllers imho are an Achilles Heel, because they fail relatively often (imho) and the replacement cost is rather high, at $1,500 or so. Unfortunately, repairs by shops run around $600, whereas the actual parts needed to fix a blown (not burnt) controller is only around $50 or so.
The Curtis company has made figuring out how to open the controller shell seemingly extremely difficult. Our video shows you can do it, without using boiling water. Water (and water vapor) causes problems for the parts inside because of corrosion, delamination and oxidation, as shown in the photo. Our video shows how to do it without water, and not heating the case to over 50 degrees Celcius.
Here is the first photo of the electronic insides of a 1221 series Curtis Controller on the Internet.
The Curtis Controller is the most popular brand of controllers for electric scooters, electric motorcycles, electric cars, golf carts, fork lifts and other electric vehicles.
FYI,for an electric vehicle, it is a good idea, imho, to ruggedize (modify) the Curtis Controller components that are weak. That information is not included in this listing, but that information will be made available in a future listing.
FYI, to prevent premature Curtis controller failure without having to make inside changes, two external modifications are possible. That information is not included in this listing, but that information will be made available in a future listing.
